RESOLUTION NO. 090267

 

Honoring John Franklin for over 30 years of service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, John began working for the City in 1978 and, during his 30-year tenure, worked in eight different City departments: Human Relations, Urban Affairs, Transportation, Public Works, Personnel, Municipal Court, City Managers Office, and Water Services; and

 

WHEREAS, while Administrator of the Kansas City Municipal Court, John made significant improvements to the business processes of the court, until he was appointed to the position of Assistant City Manager, where he served for 15 years as a liaison to various City departments and outside civic groups; and

 

WHEREAS, in May 2008, John was assigned as the acting Director of the Water Services Department where he implemented changes that have caused the department to operate more efficiently and productively; and

 

WHEREAS, Johns institutional knowledge of City government and his witty sense of humor made him an exceptional manager, colleague, and mentor to countless City staff; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor John Franklin for over 30 years of service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy here of presented to John Franklin in token of the Mayor and Councils respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves with his wife, Tresia, and their two children, Joel and Leslie.
