RESOLUTION NO. 090256
Honoring Michael Garozzo and the
staff of Garozzos Ristorante at 526 Harrison in Columbus Park on their 20th
Anniversary.
WHEREAS, Garozzos
Ristorante was established April 6, 1989 in Kansas Citys historic Columbus Park area in Kansas City, Missouri, by Michael Garozzo; and
WHEREAS, Michael
Garozzo spent a lifetime in the restaurant business, beginning with Parentes Italian Village, where he worked as a busboy on the Hill in St. Louis, Missouri, in his youth;
and
WHEREAS, Michael
Garozzo would be encouraged to pursue his dream of opening his own restaurant
by his father Salvatore and Uncle Fred, both veterans of the restaurant
business; and
WHEREAS, the
Garozzo family took a chance in Columbus Park establishing the first Garozzos
Ristorante, when many individuals and businesses were moving out of the
neighborhood; and
WHEREAS,
Garozzos has established itself as an icon in Columbus Park and all of Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Michael
Garozzo introduced his famous chicken spiedini, the first of its kind in an
Italian restaurant, at Garozzos Ristorante - Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Michael
Garozzo and his family worked side by side in small business at Garozzos at
526 Harrison, modeling true family values; and
WHEREAS, the
hard work and dedication of the Garozzo family and staff has resulted in the
establishment of Garozzos restaurants in Olathe, Overland Park and Lees
Summit and promises a continued successful presence in Kansas City, Missouri;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby
honor Michael Garozzo and the staff of Garozzos Ristorante at 526 Harrison in Columbus Park on their 20th Anniversary; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Michael Garozzo with
the congratulations of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City to
Michael Garozzo, his family and staff for the 20-year success of Garozzos
Ristorante.
