RESOLUTION NO. 110393

 

Congratulating Jake Pierce, Caleb Leverette, Luna Green and Breann Dunlap on winning the top four awards in the Fifth District Congressional Art Competition.

 

WHEREAS, on April 16, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife, Dianne, recognized the high school artists and named the top five submissions; and

 

WHEREAS, entries were displayed at the Central Library through April 22 and the grand prize winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol; and

 

WHEREAS, first place was awarded to Jake Pierce from Paseo Academy, second place was awarded to Caleb Leverette from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, third place was awarded to Luna Green from Paseo Academy, and fourth place was awarded to Breann Dunlap from Paseo Academy Arts; and

 

WHEREAS, the first place winner, Jake Pierce, won a trip for himself and a parent to Washington, D.C., compliments of Southwest Airlines, as well as a scholarship to Kansas City Art Institute’s Pre-College Program worth $2,700.00 and 3 college credits; and

 

WHEREAS, second through fourth places will receive $1,000.00 scholarships each; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Jake Pierce, Caleb Leverette, Luna Green and Breann Dunlap on winning the top four awards in the Fifth District Congressional Art Competition; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to each of the winners with the best wishes of the Mayor and Council for their continued success in any future endeavors.
