RESOLUTION NO. 020620
Supporting the application
for and acceptance of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the U.S.
Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.
WHEREAS, the City
of Kansas City, Missouri, as the designated jurisdictional entity, desires to
submit an application to the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of
Justice, for the 2002-2004 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant, under the Fiscal Year
1997 Omnibus Appropriations Act, by Wednesday, June 5, 2002; and,
WHEREAS, the City
has the opportunity to apply for and receive noncompetitive Federal grant funds
to support the Citys and communitys crime prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, in 1996,
1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and in 2001, the City entered into collaborative efforts
with the Kansas City Police Department and the Jackson County Prosecutors
Office to apply for and receive Federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of
Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance; and
WHEREAS, the new
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant application supports the Citys initiatives
to prevent crime and create a safer community; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council do acknowledge and support this application for and acceptance of
the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice,
Bureau of Justice Assistance.
