RESOLUTION NO. 001429

 

Congratulating C. Rodney LaMothe for being elected Kansas Citys Transportation Person of the Year.

 

WHEREAS, C. Rodney LaMothe, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company, was elected Kansas Citys Transportation Person of the Year by the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Transportation Association at their September Board Meeting; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. LaMothe has expanded the Municipal Barge Terminal operations until it is now the largest barge terminal on the Missouri River, thus creating more jobs as well as affording industry lower costs and more options in transportation; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. LaMothe has become an industrial leader in the distribution and warehousing industry in Kansas City. He is a past president of the Kansas City Warehouse Association, the Mid-America Warehouse Association, a member and past chairman of the board of the International Warehouse Logistics Association, a member and past president of the International Federation of Public Warehousing Association. This latter Association he brought to Kansas City in 1989 and was host to members from Australia, China, Cyprus, France, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Scotland, Spain and the United Kingdom; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. LaMothe has built and developed over 2,000,000 square feet of industrial buildings, which has not only retained local business in Kansas City but has attracted national companies to Kansas City whose payrolls and freight have helped to make Kansas City a greater business and transportation center; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. LaMothe is active in civic affairs, especially youth activities. In addition he is a past president of the Northeast Industrial Association and a founding member of the Kansas City Industrial Council. He brought the spirit of the River to the Plaza area by placing pleasure boats on the new Brush Creek basin. He also is a strong supporter of the American Royal, amateur and professional sports; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate C. Rodney LaMothe on being elected Kansas Citys Transportation Person of the Year; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to C. Rodney LaMothe with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council for receiving this prestigious award.
