ORDINANCE NO. 170212

 

Authorizing the acceptance of a $41,600.00 grant from and a contract with the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the purpose of investigating discrimination complaints in employment; estimating revenue in the amount of $41,600.00 in the Neighborhoods Grants Fund; appropriating that amount to the 17 EEOC Grant account; designating requisitioning authority; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

 

WHEREAS, Council authorized the acceptance of a grant award from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for investigating employment discrimination complaints on August 11, 2016 in Ordinance No. 160561; and

 

WHEREAS, additional funds are now available to the City from the same funding source; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of the Human Relations Department is authorized to accept a $41,600.00 grant from the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) for the purpose of investigating discrimination complaints in employment.

 

Section 2. That the Director of the Human Relations Department is hereby authorized to execute a contract with the EEOC to investigate discrimination complaints in employment. A copy of the contract is on file in the Human Relations Department.

 

Section 3. That the revenue in the following account of the Neighborhoods Grants Fund is estimated in the following amount:

 

17-2580-540001-479220-G54EEOC17 17 EEOC Grant $41,600.00

 

Section 4. That the sum of $41,600.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Neighborhoods Grants to the following accounts:

 

17-2580-545210-B-G54EEOC17 17 EEOC Grant $38,000.00

17-2580-545210-C-G54EEOC17 17 EEOC Grant 3,600.00

TOTAL $ 41,600.00

 

Section 5. That the Director of the Human Relations Department is designated as requisitioning authority for Account No. 17-2580-545210.

 

Section 6. That this ordinance, which appropriates funds, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
