COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 110374

 

Approving the preparation and submission of an application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, pursuant to its RE-Powering America’s Land: Siting Renewable Energy on Potentially Contaminated Land and Mine Sites Initiative, for evaluation by the United States Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the potential to develop sources of renewable energy or renewable energy technologies on potentially or formerly contaminated properties located at the former Municipal Farm properties in the Eastwood Hills Neighborhood.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the City has prepared an application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for evaluation by the United States Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the potential to develop sources of renewable energy or renewable energy technologies on potentially or formerly contaminated properties located at the former Municipal Farm properties in the Eastwood Hills Neighborhood, located in Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri, a copy of which, in substantial form, is attached hereto and is hereby authorized and approved.

Section 2. That the Mayor, on behalf of the City as the owner of the former Municipal Farm properties, is authorized to submit a letter with the grant application in expressing the City’s support for, and commitment to the success of, the renewable energies evaluation project at the former Municipal Farms.

Section 3. That the Mayor, pursuant to EPA’s 2011 Request for Applications (RFA), is hereby authorized to execute and submit the application for the Renewable Energy on Potentially Contaminated Lands Feasibility Study to the Environmental Protection Agency.
