RESOLUTION NO. 140108
Recognizing
the Troost Corridor Redevelopment Plan: A Plan for a Sustainable Troost Avenue,
as a guide for future redevelopment along Troost Avenue generally located between
27th Street on the north and 75th Street on the south. (706-S)
WHEREAS, the Mid
America Regional Council (“MARC”), as part of the Planning Sustainable Places
initiative, hired a consultant team to complete The Troost Corridor
Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City
Council, the City Development Department, and area stakeholders worked with the
consultant on a strategic redevelopment and implementation framework for the
corridor from 27th Street south to 75th Street in addition to providing a
blueprint for implementation of two financially feasible catalytic
redevelopment projects along the Troost Corridor - one at the Armour Boulevard
/ Troost Avenue intersection and one at 63rd Street / Troost Avenue
intersection; and
WHEREAS, the Troost Corridor Redevelopment Plan is consistent and
complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan adopted on October 30, 1997, by
Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268; and
WHEREAS, after
all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City
Plan Commission did on January 21, 2014, recommend recognition of the Troost
Corridor Redevelopment Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That The
Troost Corridor Redevelopment Plan is hereby recognized as a guide for future
redevelopment along Troost Avenue generally located between 27th Street on the
north and 75th Street on the south.
Section B. That
the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed
area plan amendment hereinabove, all public notices have been given and
hearings have been held as required by law.
