RESOLUTION NO. 180988

Honoring Vanessa L. Williams for her contributions to the City of Kansas City.

WHEREAS, Vanessa has contributed to the success of the Mayor’s Office, City Planning Department, Municipal Court and General Services Department since she began her services to the City in 2008. Vanessa has been integral to the success of the Kansas City’s Real Estate Office since 2014; and

WHEREAS, during that time, Vanessa managed the real estate for the City of Kansas City, the largest property owner in the City, and has been successful in negotiating leases with new and existing tenants increasing the City standards to lease City facilities at fair market rates; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa was instrumental in creating a plan to sell surplus property for a profit and in several locations sold property that exceeded the appraised value. Of particular significance was selling the Pioneer College Facility to the KIPP Endeavor Academy and the previous crime lab building that is now converted into a printing business; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa provided valuable leadership in her involvement as co-project manager in the redevelopment of the Historical 18th and Vine District and her vision, professionalism, and her ability to connect the neighborhood with the Design Team, has set in motion a path that will lead to the success of 18th and Vine as a district that brings working, playing and entertaining together; NOW, THEREFORE,
