RESOLUTION NO. 030014

 

Congratulating the St. Pius X High School football team for winning the Missouri State High School Athletics Association Class 2A State Championship.

 

WHEREAS, St. Pius defeated Centralia, 28-6 in the championship game on November 29, 2002, in St Louis, Missouri at the Edward Jones Dome; and

WHEREAS, the St. Pius team enjoyed a winning season with a record of 11-wins and 3-losses; and

WHEREAS, Rick Byers is the team's head coach and his assistants are Rick Ringel, Greg Glawson, Tom Radke, Mike Welsh, Benny Palmentere, Tim Grunhard and Chad Wright, they and the players gave their all to create this winning season and state football championship; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding achievement was made possible by the team's hard work, commitment and dedication, winning its third state football title since 1998; and

WHEREAS, the team not only received support and encouragement from their coaches, but also years of dedication, perseverance, support and guidance from their parents; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the coaches and the St. Pius X football team on their winning performance in the state championship; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Coach Rick Byers and the St. Pius X High School football team in appreciation of their performance and their outstanding championship season.
