RESOLUTION NO. 080138

Supporting the Neighborhood and Community Services Departments grant application to the Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Homes Program.

WHEREAS, the Neighborhood and Community Services Department is tasked with preserving homes and neighborhoods through its Property Preservation Division; and

WHEREAS, home repair grant funds are available through the Federal Home Loan Banks Affordable Homes Program (Program); and

WHEREAS, the Program currently provides funding for the Kansas City Housing Asset Recovery Program (KC HARP), which is a unique partnership between the City and four neighborhoods to provide minor home repair services to these four neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, the KC HARP program is completing housing assistance to over 100 homes in these four neighborhoods; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Neighborhood and Community Services Departments application to the Federal Home Loan Bank 2008 Affordable Home Application in the amount of $500,000.00 and support the targeting of $500,000.00 of the 2008 CDBG Minor Home Repair budget as a match to the to KC HARP grant application.
