RESOLUTION

Declaring April 2-8, 2018, as
Public Health Week in Kansas City, Missouri,
WHEREAS, the
City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department’s mission is to preserve,
protect, and promote the health of Kansas Citians and our visitors; and
WHEREAS, public
health programs and services, such as food protection and immunizations,
benefit all citizens and are essential ingredients in a strong, successful,
local economy; and
WHEREAS, the
City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is committed to building
relationships with the community through outreach efforts such as Aim4Peace and
Nurse Family Partnership; and
WHEREAS, the
City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is dedicated to improving
capacity to respond to public health threats and emergencies, such as the
recent regional Measles outbreak; and
WHEREAS, the
City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is a partner with other Kansas
City Metropolitan Health agencies and is committed to bringing continued attention
to public health issues such as preparedness in time of public health threats,
quality early learning, violence prevention, access to preventative health
care, economic mobility, social capital and the built environment; and
WHEREAS, the
City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is collaborating with other
City departments, local non-profits and the business community on issues
related to the social factors that affect health; and
WHEREAS, the
National Public Health Week theme, “Healthiest Nation 2030 – Changing Our
Future Together” encompasses our goals as a nation to innovate the field of
public health and ensure length and quality of life are considered in all
policy making; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby declare April 2-8, 2018, to be Public Health Week in Kansas
City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Kansas City,
Health Department for its efforts and dedication to serving the community in
promoting good public health.
