RESOLUTION NO. 990294
Supporting
applications to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and Missouri Department
of Transportation (MoDOT) for 1998 TEA-21 Transportation Enhancement Funding.
WHEREAS,
the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century directs that at least ten
percent of Missouris Surface Transportation Program funds be allocated toward
transportation enhancement projects; and
WHEREAS,
MARC has been designated to receive and review project applications from cities
within the Metropolitan Planning Organizations boundary and make
recommendations to the Transportation Enhancement Selection Committee for the
State; and
WHEREAS,
the Missouri Department of Transportation is designated to award Transportation
Enhancement Funds; and
WHEREAS,
the Kansas City Transportation and Development Committee (KCTDC) has reviewed
and recommended the following projects be submitted from Kansas City, Missouri
for consideration:

& Holmes Road Interchange
Landscaping
and other scenic beautification
Riverfront
West/Town of Kansas Pedestrian Bridge & Walkway
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
Historic
Preservation
Indian
Creek Greenway
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
Brush
Creek (Brookside to Troost)
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
Shoal
Creek Parkway (Hodge Park to I-435)
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
Penn
Valley Park
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
KCATA
Trolley Track Trail (75th St. to 85th St., Holmes to Prospect)
Facilities
for Bicycles and Pedestrians
NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby accepts the KCTDC recommendations and supports the
submission of applications to MARC and MoDOT for Enhancement Funding
consideration.
