RESOLUTION NO. 100770
Designating the City’s share of
Clay County’s special road and bridge tax receipts for calendar year 2010, in
accordance with Section 137.556, Revised Statutes of Missouri, and directing
the City Manager to transmit this resolution to Clay County.
WHEREAS, the City
Council desires to use the City of Kansas City’s share of Clay County’s special
road and bridge tax receipts to fund construction projects of mutual benefit to
the City of Kansas City and Clay County; and
WHEREAS, Section
137.556 RSMo states that the city council or other governing body of the city,
town or village shall designate the roads, streets and bridges to be repaired
and improved and shall specify the kinds and types of materials to be used; and
WHEREAS, the City
Council desires to designate for repair and improvement the section of North
Brighton Road from Highway 210 to Parvin Road, with construction planned to
begin in 2011. Before construction can begin, the City will incur necessary
costs for design and acquisition of right-of-way; and
WHEREAS, the City
Council, in Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 081249 passed June 11,
2009, designated the City’s share of Clay County special road and bridge tax
receipts for calendar years 2008 and 2009 to such design and acquisition costs
for the North Brighton Road improvement project, but the 2008-09 funds only
partially defrayed such project costs; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY;
Section 1. That the
City Council hereby designates, in accordance with Section 137.556, Revised
Statutes of Missouri, that the City’s share of Clay County, Missouri’s special
road and bridge tax receipts for calendar year 2010 is to be used for the
following road and bridge project:
1. Design work and right-of-way acquisition preceding
construction to repair and improve North Brighton from a two-lane unimproved
roadway section to a three-lane improved roadway section from Highway 210 to
Parvin Road.
2. Estimated cost: One million one hundred thousand dollars
($1,100,000) for design; one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000)
for right-of-way acquisition.
3. Construction of road improvements will begin in 2011 using
such materials as specified in City ordinance and contract for such project.
Section 2. That
the City Manager is hereby instructed to transmit this resolution to Clay
County, Missouri within 30 days of adoption.
