ORDINANCE NO. 090306

 

Authorizing the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with Jackson County, Missouri for housing detainees and sentenced inmates.

 

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 080310 expressed the City Councils interest in developing a regional correctional system; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council continues to support a coordination of services offered to offenders to improve the livability and safety of our neighborhoods; and

 

WHEREAS, Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 090126 authorized the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services to develop an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement by following an approved Memorandum of Understanding; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with Jackson County, Missouri, a copy of which is filed with this ordinance.

 

Section 2. That the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is authorized to continue with facility improvements described in the Memorandum of Understanding approved by Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 090126 and further described in the Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement provided there are sufficient appropriations available for such work.

 

Section 3. That the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is authorized to approve amendments to the Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement if the amendments do not change the maximum annual compensation to be paid to Jackson County, Missouri.
