RESOLUTION NO. 011678

 

Approving an amendment to the Sports Complex Area Plan, being that part of Kansas City bounded by 23rd Street on the north, Chrysler Avenue on the east, 67th Street on the south, and the Big Blue River on the west, by modifying the Land Use Plan and Map in an area generally located on the north side of the intersection of Blue Parkway and Hardesty Road, to recommend planned industrial and planned business park instead commercial (neighborhood shopping) and open space.

 

WHEREAS, on January 19, 1973, the City Council by Resolution No. 42009 adopted the Sports Complex Area Plan as a guide for development and redevelopment of that area bounded by 23rd Street on the north, Chrysler Avenue on the east, 67th Street on the south, and the Big Blue River on the west; and

 

WHEREAS, said Sports Complex Area Plan was amended on July 2, 1996, through the adoption of Resolution No. 960664 and was further amended on July 3, 1997, through the adoption of Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 970352; and

 

WHEREAS, after further review by the City Development Department it has been deemed appropriate to amend the Sports Complex Area Plan as it affects that area generally located on the north side of the intersection of Blue Parkway and Hardesty Road, by modifying the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for such area from commercial (neighborhood shopping) and open space to planned industrial and planned business park; and

 

WHEREAS, public notice of a hearing before the City Plan Commission was published on October 1, 2001; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered such amendment to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map on October 16, 2001; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on October 16, 2001, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Sports Complex Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the third amendment to the Sports Complex Area Plan is hereby approved as to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for that area generally located on the north side of Blue Parkway and Hardesty Road, by modifying the recommended land uses for the area from commercial (neighborhood shopping) and open space to planned industrial and planned business park. A copy of the amendment to the Land Use Plan and Map of the Sports Complex Area Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section B. That the Sports Complex Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 


Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
