RESOLUTION NO. 970157

 

 

 

Directing the City Manager to appoint a committee to study the feasibility of passing an

 

ordinance requiring the retrofit of sprinkler systems in high rise, condominium and apartment

 

buildings.

 

 

 

WHEREAS, recent fires in high rise buildings and apartments have focused attention on the

 

importance of sprinkler systems; and

 

 

 

WHEREAS, the City Council desires that a committee be appointed to study the problem;

 

NOW, THEREFORE,

 

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

 

 

Section 1. The City Manager is directed to form a committee to explore the feasibility of

 

passing an ordinance to require the retrofit of sprinkler systems in high rise, condominium and

 

apartment buildings within the City.

 

 

 

Section 2. Representatives on the committee will include persons from the City staff, business

 

community, property and building owners and all other appropriate parties.

 

 

 

Section 3. It is the Council's intent that all interested parties be notified of all public meetings.
