RESOLUTION NO. 180330

 

Recognizing the contributions of Patrice Eilts Jobe, creator of the City fountain logo, to Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, in 1992, Patrice Eilts Jobe was invited to submit a design to be considered for adoption as the official seal of the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, of over 120 submissions, her design was the only concept submitted for approval by a committee formed by Mayor Emanuel Cleaver; and

 

WHEREAS, Patrice Eilts Jobe accepted the sum of $1 as payment in full for her design; and

 

WHEREAS, her design has since been in continuous use for over 25 years, adorning City Hall and other municipal buildings, official documents, and landmarks iconic to Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, the Kansas City seal has come to symbolize Kansas City, Missouri, as the City of Fountains and Heart of the Nation; and

 

WHEREAS, today, her design is displayed throughout our city, on landmarks, transportation systems, businesses and citizens, developing the City’s identity and instilling in our residents a sense of local pride; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and honor Patrice Eilts Jobe in shaping the identity of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Patrice Eilts Jobe and her family in recognition by the Mayor, Council and citizens to her impact on Kansas City.
