ORDINANCE NO. 110150

Authorizing the Director of Parks and Recreation to enter into a (Supplemental) cooperative funding agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation for construction of the Cliff Drive Restoration Phase 3 project.

WHEREAS, this supplement to the original cooperative funding agreement will revise the agreement timeline per the requirements of the grant; and

WHEREAS, this revised agreement timeline will allow the City of Kansas City to maintain use of the federal match; and

WHEREAS, this federal match will provide funds that will allow the City of Kansas City to restore stone curbing, replace storm inlets, and resurface the roadway as necessary to correct drainage patterns along Cliff Drive west of Chestnut Trafficway; and

WHEREAS, these infrastructure improvements will improve the sustainability of Cliff Drive by controlling storm water, preventing erosion, stabilizing the roadway and establishing vegetation throughout the Cliff Drive Scenic Byway; and

WHEREAS, this restoration project will benefit the children of Kansas City by preserving an historic Kansas City roadway which is integral to the intrinsic historic and natural qualities of the Cliff Drive Scenic Byway; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized to execute a supplemental cooperative funding agreement between the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Kansas City, Missouri Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners for the use of Transportation Enhancement grant funds as provided by the Federal Highways Administration for the construction of the Cliff Drive Restoration Phase 3 Project.
