RESOLUTION NO. 100397

Supporting an application to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa for a grant for Minor Home Repair Services.

WHEREAS, the Housing and Community Development Department is tasked with preserving homes and neighborhoods through its Property Preservation Division; and

WHEREAS, home repair grant funds are available through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines Affordable Housing Program (“Program”); and

WHEREAS, the Program has provided funding for the Kansas City Housing Asset Recovery Program (KCHARP) which is a unique partnership between the City and the three neighborhoods of Washington Wheatley, Blue Hills and Ruskin to provide minor home repair services to those neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, the KCHARP program previously completed housing assistance to over 90 homes; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Housing and Community Development Department’s application to the Federal Home Loan Bank 2010 Affordable Housing Program in the amount of $500,000.00 for Minor Home Repair Services.
