RESOLUTION NO. 070311
Congratulating
Charles Stonewall on his career and wishing him well on his newest project.
WHEREAS,
Charles Stonewall is an artist in the Kansas City area, who has developed a
deep compassion for victims of sexual violence and is a supporter of agencies
that combat this national problem; and
WHEREAS,
after interviewing numerous victims as well as meeting with counselors who work
with them, Charles Stonewall was moved to develop an ambitious art project that
would allow him to express his deep feelings and project the experiences of
others; and
WHEREAS,
the new project is called Dark of the Moon and was conceived to take
viewers on a journey from darkness into light, from despair to hope, and from
survival to healing, and on to a deeper spirituality; and
WHEREAS,
Charles Stonewall is embarking on an existing crossover art project that
combines the visual arts with the performing arts with the final form
reflecting 39 mural sized digital photographs divided into three thematic
groupings: the dark, the light and the spiritual and moving into the performing
arts which will utilize a set designer, a choreographer, balletically trained
dancers for interpretive poses, a costume designer and a lighting designer;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Charles Stonewall on his career and
wishing him well on his newest project; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Charles
Stonewall with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his contribution to the arts in the community.
