RESOLUTION NO. 140458

Honoring David R. Park on the occasion of his retirement for 35 years of service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

 WHEREAS, David began his employment with Kansas City on January 8, 1979; and 

WHEREAS, since that time, David has worked on revisions to the Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund program, Tow Services operations including siting and building a new impound facility, and establishing the first agreement with Jackson County for the housing of City inmates; and 

WHEREAS, David helped advocate for state legislation which resulted in streamlined procedures for mowing weeds and demolishing dangerous buildings as well as establishing administrative fines and the Land Bank; and 

WHEREAS, David founded the Missouri Association of Code Enforcement in 1992 and also served six years on the board of the American Association of Code Enforcement, including a term as president and brought ideas such as administrative fines, rental property licensing and vacant building registration through his national network of code enforcement contacts; and 

WHEREAS, neighborhoods of the City and residents of those neighborhoods have benefitted from his efforts over the years thereby earning him the respect and appreciation of neighborhood leaders, community leaders and the community at large; NOW, THEREFORE, 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY: 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Mr. David R. Park, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with their most sincere appreciation for his years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution is spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to David R. Park in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
