COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 140123

 

Authorizing the Fire Chief to enter into a contract with Advanced Data Processing, Inc., a subsidiary of Intermedix Corporation, to perform emergency medical services billing for the City’s ambulance services (Contract #EV1830); estimating revenue in the amount of $130,770.00 and appropriating it from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Ambulance Services Fund; and recognizing an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, the City issued a Request for Proposals on September 3, 2013, inviting the submission of proposals for a contractor to provide billing services when emergency medical services are provided by the City; and

 

WHEREAS, after receiving all the proposals for such billing services, the City decided to negotiate a contract with Advanced Data Processing, Inc.; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has negotiated a five year contract with Advanced Data Processing with consideration for such contract being a percentage of the net collections made by Advanced Data Processing, Inc.; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Fire Chief is hereby authorized to enter into a contract, on behalf of the City, with Advanced Data Processing, Inc., a subsidiary of Intermedix Corporation, to perform the emergency medical services billing for the City’s ambulance services. A copy of the contract (#EV1830) is on file in the Procurement Services Division.

 

Section 2. That the revenue estimate in the following account of the Ambulance Services Fund is hereby increased by the following additional amount:

 

14-2280-232520-465690 Ambulance Fees $130,770.00

 

Section 3. That $130,770.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Ambulance Services Fund to the following account in the Ambulance Services Fund:

 

14-2280-232520-B Ambulance Operations $130,770.00

 

Section 4. That this ordinance is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503 of the City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
