RESOLUTION NO. 070549
Honoring Laura Snapp and
extending to her their appreciation, gratitude and respect for his work on
behalf of Mayor Barnes and the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
WHEREAS, Laura
Huggins Snapp has served as Mayor Barnes bodyguard since the Spring of 1999,
shortly after the Mayor was elected; and
WHEREAS, Laura
has been with Mayor Barnes almost every day, spending countless hours with her
and always providing a great measure of safety and protection. In that time,
Laura has not only served as driver and guard, but as friend and dedicated
public servant, particularly during long hours spent in Jefferson City; and
WHEREAS, Officer
Snapps commitment to her job and devotion to the Mayor are readily apparent. Laura
is not only a respected police officer, but a good friend, valued staff member
and capable practical joker. (Sometimes, Lauras was the only smiling face one
would see at work, and she made even the crankiest person feel happy.) Through
her work, Officer Snapp has allowed the Mayor a sense not only of security, but
security tempered with warmth and caring; and
WHEREAS, Laura
Snapp has made significant contributions to the City through her work for Mayor
Barnes, and she has given an enormous amount of support, kindness and laughter
to the people in the Mayors office. Laura Snapp is beloved by everyone on the
29th floor of City Hall; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council do hereby honor Laura Snapp and extend to her their appreciation,
gratitude and respect for his work on behalf of Mayor Barnes and the City of
Kansas City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Laura Snapp with
appropriate recognition and appreciation.
