Authorizing execution of a Lease Agreement with Habitat for Humanity/Kansas City, Inc., for the rental of real property located at 4701 Deramus.

WHEREAS, the premises shall be used for the purpose of a collection and distribution facility for used, surplus and salvaged building materials including appliances and will also be a resale outlet for these items and serve as a fundraiser for lower income house building by the organization; and

WHEREAS, the agreement shall commence on May 1, 2000, and the agreement shall terminate on April 30, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity/Kansas City, Inc., shall pay to the City $15,000.00 for the first year beginning May 1, 2000 through April 30, 2001, shall pay the City $30,000.00 for the period May 1, 2001 through April 30, 2002, and shall pay the City $60,000.00 for the period May 1, 2002 through April 30, 2003; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of the Department of City Development is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City, a Lease Agreement with Habitat for Humanity/Kansas City, Inc., for rental of real property located at 4701 Deramus for the purpose of a collection and distribution facility for used, surplus and salvaged building materials for a three year period commencing May 1, 2000 and terminating April 30, 2003 with Habitat for Humanity paying to the City $15,000.00 for the first year beginning May 1, 2000 through April 30, 2001, $30,000.00 for the second year beginning May 1, 2001 through April 30, 2002, and $60,000.00 for the third year beginning May 1, 2002 through April 30, 2003.
