RESOLUTION NO. 080826
Declaring
September 6, 2008, as Bike MS Day in Kansas City.
WHEREAS,
Bike MS: Kansas City has existed since 1984 to offer local residents a way to
join the movement and create a world free of multiple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, Bike
MS: Kansas City has raised more than $22 million through nearly 50,000
participants and more than 100,000 donors; and
WHEREAS, more
than 3,000 individuals in greater Kansas City live with the devastating effects
of multiple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, multiple
sclerosis stops people from moving. Bike MS: Kansas City raises funds for
research, as well as comprehensive programs and services for people with
multiple sclerosis, their care partners, family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, Bike MS: Kansas City will hold its 25th anniversary on September 6 & 7, 2008; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby declare September 6, 2008, as Bike MS Day in Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Larry Stanfield, Joel Schroeder, Jim Lawrence and Bill
Gautreaux with the
appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the efforts
being made to raise money for research as well as programs to aid people with
multiple sclerosis.
