COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 961566

 

Directing the City Manager to determine the extent of rat infestation in Kansas City and report to the City Council within 60 days on current and future programing and funding to abate the problem.

 

WHEREAS, conditions has been reported to exist within Kansas City that promote and afford the breeding of rats, mice and other vermin which constitute a public nuisance; and

 

WHEREAS, this kind of nuisance constitutes a serious health risk that interferes with the lives, general welfare and comfort of all Kansas Citians; and

 

WHEREAS, rats and mice are known carriers and transmission agents of diseases, which are a hazard and a danger to the health of children; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to protect the public health from this risk, the Council desires to know the extent of the problem and the resources available to abate it; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is directed to prepare a report to the City Council within 60 days on the current extent of rat infestation in Kansas City and on current and planned future programing and funding to abate the problem.
