RESOLUTION NO. 120024

Honoring and recognizing Heather A. Brown upon her retirement from the Law Department after more than 27 distinguished years of dedicated service to the City.

WHEREAS, Heather A. Brown began her career with the City as an Assistant City Attorney I in 1984 and rose to the level of Senior Associate City Attorney during her twenty-seven years of exceptional public service; and

WHEREAS, Heather provided excellent legal advice and representation to the Mayor, City Manager, City Council, and City Departments during her tenure with the City; and

WHEREAS, Heather provided legal counsel to the City on complex economic development and financial matters, and the City has greatly benefitted from her service; and

WHEREAS, Heather’s clients included the City Council Finance and Audit Committee, Finance Department, Neighborhood and Community Services Department, Municipal Court, Aviation Department, Convention and Entertainment Centers Department, and outside agencies such as Convention and Visitors Bureau, Planned Industrial Expansion Authority, and Industrial Development Authority; and

WHEREAS, Heather was known for providing proactive legal advice that assisted her clients in accomplishing their goals, and her knowledge, expertise, friendliness, and professionalism will be sorely missed by her colleagues and clients; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their most sincere appreciation to Heather A. Brown for her more than 27 years of distinguished service to Kansas City, together with heartiest best wishes for the future; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Heather A. Brown in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and the high regard in which she is held.
