RESOLUTION NO. 941403

 

Directing the City Manager to assist residents displaced by the Quality Heights II Development Project in participating in the City's affordable housing programs.

 

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance and Quality Heights II, L.P., have proposed to develop the Quality Heights II Development Project generally located between Michigan Street and Garfield Street and 25th Street to 24th Terrace; and

 

WHEREAS, the Quality Heights II Development Project includes the construction of 35 duplexes (70 units of housing) which will be rented to low to moderate income residents of the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Project currently envisions the displacement of a number of residents of the area; and

 

WHEREAS, these displaced residents may also qualify as individuals/families who are income eligible and may be in need of or desire to participate in affordable housing programs; and

 

WHEREAS, the City currently administers a number of affordable housing programs for low to moderate income persons through its Department of Housing and Community Development;

 

WHEREAS, the Council desires that the City Manager assist these residents in participating in the City's affordable housing programs; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby direct the City Manager to assist residents displaced by the Quality Heights Development Project in participating in the City's current affordable housing programs in the Washington Wheatley neighborhood area administered through the City's Department of Housing and Community Development.
