RESOLUTION NO. 180127

 

Recognizing and honoring Staley High School’s Football Team for winning the Missouri State Championship.

 

WHEREAS, 125 Players, led by Captains Roddrick Criss II, Zach Elam, Tyler Miller, and John Raybourn comprise this championship football team; and

 

WHEREAS, the leadership of Coaches Phil Lite, Jeremey Hays, Quinten Hamner, Jacob Hewitt, David Fowler, Keith Ross, David Wilson, Mike Newman, Brett Clawson, Jordan Simmons, Sean Ransburg, Brad Voigt, Andrew Baugh, and David Melton paved the path to victory; and

 

WHEREAS, this is Staley High School’s Football Teams’ 2nd State Championship and 2nd undefeated Season; and

 

WHEREAS, the team’s hard work and dedication came through in pivotal moments including a victory against Fort Osage in the quarterfinals 28-14 and a victory against Carthage in the semifinals 54-13; and

 

WHEREAS, the Staley Falcons played an unbelievable game with Pattonville in Columbia, Missouri on November 25, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, the Staley High School Football season came down to the final 57 seconds of the state championship game. Down 7 points to Pattonville, John Raybourn led the offense on a game winning drive, completing a touchdown pass to Zach Elam and the go ahead 2-point conversion to JD Benbow to win the state championship 36-35; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and honor Staley High School’s Football Team for winning the Missouri State Championship; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Staley High School Football team with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council on a season well played.
