RESOLUTION NO. 020264

 

Reaffirming Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 950505, which stated the Councils intention regarding the appropriation of certain revenues generated by gaming operations for deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects; stating the Councils intention regarding unanticipated revenues.

 

WHEREAS, on November 16, 1995, the Council adopted Committee Substitute for

Resolution No. 950505, Section 2 of which reads:

 

That the Council states it intent to appropriate, to the extent such revenue is not otherwise legally restricted, all future revenues (admission fees and gaming, use, utility, property, earnings and sales taxes) from all future riverboat gaming operations in Kansas City, except the facility to be developed by the Hilton Hotels Corporation or a related entity, for the purposes of deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects consistent with priorities established by the City Council in its long range plan.

and;

 

WHEREAS, revenues received by the City from gaming have exceeded original estimates by over 100%, thereby enabling the City to make headway in funding its deferred maintenance needs; and

 

WHEREAS, it is important that the Council continue it is course to eliminate the backlog of deferred maintenance and capital projects; NOW, THEREFORE;

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Council hereby reaffirms its intention regarding the appropriation of certain gaming revenues as set forth in Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 950505.

 

Section 2. That the Council hereby states it intention to appropriate all gaming revenues not anticipated in the FY 2003 budget for deferred maintenance and capital improvements projects.
