RESOLUTION NO. 010154

 

Honoring John Taylor on the occasion of his retirement after more than 28 years of service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, John Taylor began his employment with Kansas City in June, 1966, as a maintenance worker in the Public Works Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor was promoted in 1967 to the position of Equipment Operation I for the Parks and Recreation Department and continued that work until 1968 when he left the City to begin military service for the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor served his country during the Vietnam conflict and thereafter returned to Kansas City and began work in the Water Services Department on January 19, 1973, as an Equipment Operator I; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor was promoted in 1974 to become a Labor Leader, in 1978 to become a General Supervisor, and in 1980 to become an Area Superintendent, where he served until his retirement; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has served the citizens of Kansas City during his years of service, including working through the many hardships of the flood of 1993; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor designed a flume wash system that makes a regular Water Treatment Plant maintenance procedure faster and safer; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has been actively involved as a spokesperson with the Mid-Management Group; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Mr. John Taylor, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with their most sincere appreciation for his 28 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Mr. Taylor in token of their respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
