RESOLUTION NO. 010065

 

Honoring Delbert D. Sanders on the occasion of his retirement after more than 35 years of service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Delbert Sanders began his employment with the Kansas City Finance Department on December 14, 1964, serving as supervisor of the Office Supply and Mail section, moving to supervisor of the new South City Hall Annex in 1967 under the control of the City Manager's Office, moving to assistant manager of Duplicating Services in 1969, and moving to manager of Duplicating Services in 1971, where he has served to the present; and

 

WHEREAS, Del has effectively managed, for all City departments, the valuable services of printing and all related aspects; the creation of a centralized microfilming and records section to provide guidance to all departments and assist in the storage, retrieval and disposal of all City records; the continued, daily intragovernmental mail services for all City locations as well as processing of all outgoing U.S. mail services, and the introduction of a very efficient system for department procurement of office supplies through an outside source; and

 

WHEREAS, Del has been a member of the International Publishing Management Association (IPMA - a professional organization for in-plant printing managers) since 1975 and has actively participated in all phases of the organization even holding the position of International President for two years and will now become a lifetime member upon his retirement, and has attained the status of Certified Graphic Communications Manager (CGCM), and through his participation in this association has brought recognition from other fellow members of the high quality and diversity of services provided by Duplicating Services and the City as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, Del has always conducted all business matters of the City maintaining the highest ethical standards in keeping with government financing and bidding practices which can be attested to by his fellow employees and the numerous vendors he has dealt with over the past 35 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Del has always been an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and especially mushroom hunting and will finally have the time to pursue these interests unencumbered by the pressures and time restraints of government business; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Delbert D. Sanders on the occasion of his retirement after more than 35 years of service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Delbert D. Sanders in token of the Mayor and Councils respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
