RESOLUTION NO. 170490

 

Pledging support to the Nigro Brothers and their families in future endeavors and their never ending philanthropy to the people of Kansas City.

 

WHEREAS, the Nigro Brothers have been fixtures of philanthropy in Kansas City since 1978 and have performed around 160 auctions a year and raised over 200 million dollars; and

 

WHEREAS, Wayside Waifs, The Dream Factory, Ribbons of Pink, the Chiefs and Royals, Bill Self’s Basketball Boogie, area Catholic schools and dozens of other charities are among the fortunate ones the Nigros are able to help every year; and

 

WHEREAS, the Nigro Brothers were presented with Distinguished Service Awards from the University of Central Missouri during spring commencement ceremonies on May 11, 2013; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2016, the Nigro Brothers were honored with the The Saints Hall of Fame Legacy Award through Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. This award honors persons or organizations who have been instrumental in helping to build the Saints community over a number of years; and

 

WHEREAS, the Nigro Brothers have spent countless hours away from their friends and family putting the citizens of Kansas City and people in need first. For your constant efforts to make Kansas City a better place, we say, thank you, NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby acknowledge the importance of recognizing the Nigro Brothers and their philanthropic efforts; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Nigro Brothers in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their many years of service to our City and of their best wishes for all the years to come.
