RESOLUTION NO. 200145

 

Honoring Gloria Ellington for her years of advocating for domestic violence in the community while also being a Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Community Activist and Organizer.

               WHEREAS, Gloria Rechelle Ellington also known as Ms. E. is the daughter of Gloria C, Hutton and James Ellington Jr. and proud granddaughter of Christine Hutton & Ida Ruth Ellington whom she inherited her entrepreneurial skills from; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. E. is a graduate of Southeast Senior High School, where she was the president of her class all four years. Ms. E. also attended The University of Missouri-Kansas City and Penn Valley Community College; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. E. started her career when she was eleven years old with NYC as a site leader. Ms. E. has been an entrepreneur for 38 yrs. Ms. E. is the former owner of a “Balloons R Us” and “Sweet Peas Childcare” and Rechelle Unlimited; and

 
               WHEREAS, Ms. E. began her work in nonprofits and community organizations in 1999 and is the Founder/CEO of G.Y.R.L. (Giving Yourself Real Love), Young Kings and The Princesses Camp, Underground Media Railroad, and a member of “We The People”.  Ms. E also is the Co-Founder of V.O.T.P (Voices of the People); and

 

               WHEREAS, Ms. E. for over 20 years has been a very vocal and active advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual physical abuse to women and girls. Ms. E. provides the victims life changing and emergency services all free of charge; and
               
               WHEREAS, Ms. E. has one son Councilman Brandon Ellington, Daughter-In-Law Natasha Ellington and is the proud grandmother to 3 beautiful grandchildren Lyric, Brandon and Elijah; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and congratulate Ms. Gloria Ellington for her commitment to our community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Gloria Ellington, in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her many years of dedicated service and their best wishes for all the years to come.
