RESOLUTION NO. 951307
Honoring Charles Grant as the second recipient of the
annual Dennis L. Cole Award, presented by the City of Kansas City, Missouri
Public Works Department, Street and Traffic Division.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is the City's
chief agency responsible for city-wide snow and ice removal on all City
streets; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Mayor of Kansas City, Emanuel
Cleaver II, has directed the Public Works Department to establish the Dennis L.
Cole Award as a tribute to Dennis L. Cole, an employee in the Street and
Traffic Division who lost his life on November 8, 1991, while performing his
duties during snow and ice removal operations; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department, Parks and
Recreation Department, and Water Services Department annually select an
outstanding employee to receive the Dennis L. Cole Award in recognition of
outstanding performance in safety, dependability, productivity, willingness to
assist fellow employees, and in promoting and demonstrating a positive image
for the City and its employees; and
WHEREAS, Charles Grant, Equipment Operator II at
Park Services District Four, has received letters of commendation for his
efforts to accommodate the many requests he has handled for the district; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City and its citizens have
benefitted from Charles Grant's particular efforts resulting in protection of
our resources and infrastructure and in exemplifying a positive image for the
City and its employees; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Charles
Grant as the 1995 recipient of the Dennis L. Cole Award; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be
spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and be presented to
Charles Grant in token of the pride and pleasure afforded the Mayor and Council
by Charles' fine accomplishments.
