RESOLUTION NO. 011677

 

Approving an amendment to the Town Fork Creek Area Plan, being that part of Kansas City generally located between the Blue Parkway and 63rd Street and between Prospect and the Big Blue River, by modifying the Land Use Plan and Map in an area generally located from 51st Street to 61st Street between the Blue River and the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, to recommend industrial instead of heavy industrial and recreation and open space.

 

WHEREAS, on March 10, 1978, the City Council by Resolution No. 48787 adopted the Town Fork Creek Area Plan as a guide for development and redevelopment of that area generally located between the Blue Parkway and 63rd Street and between Prospect and the Big Blue River; and

 

WHEREAS, said Town Fork Creek Area Plan was amended on November 30, 1989, through the adoption of Resolution No. 64741; was amended on March 26, 1992, through the adoption of Resolution No. 920131; and was further amended on June 30, 1994, through the adoption of Resolution No. 940642; and

 

WHEREAS, after further review by the City Development Department it has been deemed appropriate to amend the Town Fork Creek Area Plan as it affects that area generally located from 51st Street to 61st Street between the Blue River and the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, by modifying the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for such area from heavy industrial and recreation and open space to industrial; and

 

WHEREAS, public notice of a hearing before the City Plan Commission was published on October 1, 2001; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered such amendment to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map on October 16, 2001; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on October 16, 2001, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Town Fork Creek Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the fourth amendment to the Town Fork Creek Area Plan is hereby approved as to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for that area generally located from 51st Street to 61st Street between the Blue River and the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, by modifying the recommended land uses for the area from heavy industrial and recreation and open space to industrial. A copy of the amendment to the Land Use Plan and Map of the Town Fork Creek Area Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section B. That the Town Fork Creek Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 


Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
