RESOLUTION NO. 970480

 

Authorizing the Mayor to form a task force to review issues associated with the operational and physical needs of the City's convention center complex and to propose recommendations and solutions that address any identified deficiencies.

 

WHEREAS, the City's convention center is an integral part of the City's convention industry and is of significant importance to the City's economy and tourism; and

 

WHEREAS, in light of recent concerns expressed over the operations of the convention center complex, it is of great importance that these concerns be expeditiously investigated and solutions proposed by persons having direct knowledge of the City's convention industry; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor is hereby authorized to form a task force to review issues associated with the operational and physical needs of the City's convention center complex and to propose recommendations and solutions that address any identified deficiencies; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the task force shall be comprised of the following industries and associations in addition to city staff and citizenry: hotel/motel, restaurants, catering/ concessionaires, security, public shows, sporting events, trade shows/conventions, concerts and special events, event planners, convention services, business community, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the American Royal Association.
