RESOLUTION NO. 060263

Appointing George D. Blackwood, Jr. as a member of the City Council to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of the vacant Fourth In-District Council position.

WHEREAS, former Councilman James Rowland resigned his position as the member of the City Council representing the Fourth Councilmanic District as its In-District councilperson on December, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Section 6.3 of the Citys Charter provides that [A]ny vacancy occurring in the council . . . which shall occur on or after the tenth day of October of the third year during any term . . . shall be filled for the unexpired term by a majority vote of the remaining members; and

WHEREAS, George D. Blackwood, Jr. is a qualified voter of the City and a resident of the Fourth District and the City for the requisite period of time required for membership in the City Council as set forth in Section 6 of the Citys Charter; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Council hereby appoints George D. Blackwood, Jr. as a member of the City Council to serve the remainder of the current unexpired term of the vacant Fourth In-District Council position.
