ORDINANCE NO. 130445

Authorizing the Mayor to execute an employment agreement with Troy Schulte to continue serving as City Manager; and ratifying the compensation of the City Manager.

WHEREAS, the Council appointed Troy Schulte to serve as the City Manager of the City of Kansas City, Missouri in 2011, and the term of his current employment agreement is concluding; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council desire to continue employing Troy Schulte as City Manager and have negotiated terms for his continued employment; and

WHEREAS, Section 218(d) of the Charter provides that: “[T]he Mayor may fix the compensation of the City Manager, subject to ratification by a vote of at least six additional members of the Council”; and

WHEREAS, the terms of the attached “Employment Agreement Between City of Kansas City, Missouri and Troy M. Schulte” (“Employment Agreement”) fixes that compensation and sets out other terms of employment; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Council ratifies the compensation of the City Manager as fixed by the Mayor and set out in the Employment Agreement.

Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an employment agreement with Troy Schulte in substantial form as the Employment Agreement attached hereto.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
