COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 140752

 

Establishing an 18th and Vine Development Policy Committee.

 

WHEREAS, the City has recently acquired property in the 18th and Vine Historic District, and wishes that the property be developed and managed professionally and successfully; and

 

WHEREAS, the City, business owners, residents and cultural interests in the area are stakeholders in continued growth and success of the area; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has previously made considerable investment in the area, and it is appropriate to create a committee to provide guidance on further development in the area, NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That a Committee known as the 18th and Vine Development Policy Committee is hereby established and will consist of the following members:

The Mayor or designee

The Third District In-District Councilperson

The Third District At-Large Councilperson

The City Manager or designee

A representative of business interests in the District

A representative of residential interests in the District

A District cultural interest representative

A representative of patrons of the District

An optional At-Large member.

Section 2. That the purpose of the Policy Committee is to provide guidance and direction on development, property management, operational and budgeting issues.

 

Section 3. That the remaining members of the Committee shall have the option to recommend to the Mayor names of potential members for the Optional At-Large member position. The sole appointing authority for all positions shall be the Mayor.

 

Section 4. That the terms of the Mayor-appointed memberships shall be four years, or until such time as a replacement is named.

 

Section 5. That meetings of the Policy Committee will be held on a quarterly basis, or as may be needed.
