RESOLUTION NO. 140637

 

Honoring Troy Nash for being named Vice President and Newest Principal at Zimmer Real Estate.

 

WHEREAS, Troy Nash, attorney and former Kansas City councilman, has been named a vice president and the newest principal at Zimmer Real Estate Services; and

 

WHEREAS, Troy, who leads Zimmer's public-sector consulting practice, became the first African-American principal/shareholder in a top three commercial real estate firm in the region; and

 

WHEREAS, Troy’s ability to bring people together around a common vision is one of his greatest assets and his understanding of what the public and private sectors need to structure successful ventures is unparalleled in the region; and

 

WHEREAS, Troy was first elected to the Kansas City Council in 1999 and served as chairman of its Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee, was appointed to the Missouri Housing Development Commission in 2009 and a year later was asked to serve on the Missouri Tax Credit Review Commission; and

 

WHEREAS, Troy currently serves on the Kansas City regional board of directors of Arvest Bank and is a board member for People-to-People International, an international exchange and humanitarian organization founded by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 where he chaired that organization's board of trustees in 2006, traveling to more than 50 countries in that capacity; and

 

WHEREAS, Troy earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Wesley College while serving on active duty in the United States Air Force and earned his master's degrees in political science and economics while working in underprivileged communities. Nash then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and the Bloch School of Management, earning both a law degree and a master's of business administration. He will graduate in October with a doctorate in education from St. Louis University. NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Troy Nash for being named Vice President and Newest Principal at Zimmer Real Estate; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Troy Nash with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his outstanding contributions to this community.
