RESOLUTION NO. 100333

Congratulating the Central State Conference Youth Ministries on its 2010 Youth Conference celebration.

WHEREAS, during the week of April 19-25, the Central States Conference Youth Ministries will be holding its Youth Conference, Going Green for God, in Kansas City, Missouri, and will be hosting youth from 9 different states; and

WHEREAS, green is a symbol of health, the temperance theme this year promotes a positive message by teaching youth physical health through New Start Principles: nutrition, exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, air, rest, and trust in God, and promoting a healthy Earth by caring for the environment through recycling, reducing, renewing, and reusing; and

WHEREAS, Central States Conference youth will be involved in projects throughout Kansas City, Missouri, they will be facilitating various initiatives to model eco-friendly life in Kansas City to encourage a reduced carbon footprint and good stewardship on Earth; and

WHEREAS, Central States Conference youth will also be collecting shoes for citizens of Haiti, Bibles to send to Africa, and canned foods for the needy of Kansas City; and

WHEARAS, Central States Youth will be encouraging all youths of the City to live healthy, stress-free lives, to take at least 10,000 steps a day and to commit to change in their lives; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the Central States Conference Youth Ministries on a successful Youth Conference; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dr. Charles Drake, Rev. Kymone Hinds and Dwayne Williams in appreciation by the Mayor and Council for the Youth Conference provided by the Central State Conference Youth Ministries to the community
