ORDINANCE NO. 970778
Authorizing the Director of Environmental Management to
enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Lee's Summit,
Missouri for reciprocal use of household hazardous waste collection facilities;
authorizing the Director to expend the sum not to exceed $30,000.00 from
previously appropriated funds; and directing the City Clerk to record said
agreement with the appropriate offices.
WHEREAS, Kansas City has established a permanent
household hazardous waste collection facility; and
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit is preparing to establish a
permanent household hazardous waste collection facility; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City plans to conduct periodic
household hazardous waste mobile outreach collection events; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City and Lee's Summit desire to
enter into an agreement allowing reciprocal use of their collection facilities;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Environmental
Management is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City, to enter into an
agreement with the City of Lee's Summit for reciprocal use of household
hazardous waste collection facilities to serve the citizens of both
communities. The agreement shall substantially conform to the agreement which
is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
Section 2. That the Director is hereby authorized
to expend the sum not to exceed $30,000.00 from Account No. 98-100-085-1015-B
from previously appropriated funds.
Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed
to record a copy of this ordinance in the office of the Secretary of State for
the State of Missouri and in the office of the Director of Records for Jackson
County, Missouri at Kansas City as required by Section 70.300 of the Revised
Statutes of Missouri for such agreements.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise
unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing
expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in
the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each
sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
