Welcoming Ambassador Rastislave
Kacer to Kansas City and saluting the Sugar Creek Slavic Festival.
WHEREAS, Sugar Creek, Missouri, will host the twentieth annual Slavic Festival on June 10-11, 2005;
and
WHEREAS, Slavic
heritage will be celebrated with entertainment, Slavic dignitaries and displays
focusing on the Slavic forebears of the people of Sugar Creek; and
WHEREAS,
included in the celebration will be the Veselica Slovak Folk Ensemble, a dance
and music performance group from Chicago, and Don Lipovac, a member of the
Polka Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, special
guests to the festival include Rastislav Kacer, Slovak Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Kacer was appointed in 2003, after serving as State Secretary of
Defense of the Slovak Republic and as Director General of the Division of
International Organizations and Security Policy at the Slovak Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. much of Ambassador Kacers work has involved working with the
North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO); and
WHEREAS, the
Sugar Creek Slavic Festival will offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy an
important heritage festival replete with entertainment, food, and fun for
people of all ages; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby welcome Ambassador Rastislave Kacer to Kansas City and salute
the Sugar Creek Slavic Festival; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ambassador Rastislav
Kacer in recognition by the Mayor and Council for his years of dedicated
service to the Slovak Republic.
