RESOLUTION NO. 970464

 

Urging the Missouri General Assembly to adopt House Bill No. 471, otherwise known as Utilicare legislation, which supports energy bill payment assistance and weatherization programs, and directing the City Clerk to provide copies to various members of the General Assembly.

 

WHEREAS, the Missouri General Assembly is now considering House Bill No. 471, otherwise known as Utilicare legislation, which supports energy bill payment assistance and weatherization; and

 

WHEREAS, numerous low-income individuals in Kansas City and throughout the State of Missouri depend upon these fuel payment assistance and weatherization assistance programs which are experiencing a reduction in Federal assistance; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby urge the members of the Missouri General Assembly to act favorably to adopt House Bill No. 471 which supports energy bill payment assistance and weatherization programs; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that the City Clerk be directed to provide copies hereof to the members of the General Assembly from the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Governor as evidence of the support of the Mayor and Council for this Bill.
