RESOLUTION NO. 180808

 

Declaring October 18th as Dr. Randall L. O’Donnell Day and thanking him for his service and dedication to Kansas City and children’s health.

 

WHEREAS, Dr. O’Donnell has been President and CEO of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics from January 1993 to August 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. O’Donnell is a national leader in the field of psychosocial services within pediatric health care and led the effort in Congress to obtain federal funding for children’s teaching in hospitals; and

 

WHEREAS, during Dr. O’Donnell’s tenure, Children’s Mercy has experienced tremendous growth in facilities, services, research, and number of patients cared for; and

 

WHEREAS, under Dr. O’Donnell’s leadership, Children’s Mercy transformed a small, safety-net hospital in Kansas City into a top pediatric health care system that includes two hospitals and several clinics; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. O’Donnell has shown his dedication to children’s health by volunteering his time to various organizations devoted to children’s health care across the globe; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare October 18th as Dr. Randall L. O’Donnell Day; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dr. O’Donnell with the Mayor and Council congratulating him on his retirement and thanking him for his service.
