RESOLUTION NO. 051544

 

Recognizing the need of City to obtain and consider views and opinions from a larger representative segment of neighborhoods and industry regarding changes in Chapter 10 (Alcoholic Beverages) of the Kansas City Ordinances.

 

WHEREAS, current processes and procedures for obtaining neighborhood and industry voice into proposed changes in Chapter 10 is informal and frequently incomplete; and

 

WHEREAS, current Chapter 10 sections provide little ability for neighborhood or industry organizations to collectively formalize their concerns regarding existing alcohol-controlling ordinances; and

 

WHEREAS, current Chapter 10 sections provide no formalized, regular ability for neighborhood or industry organizations to share views and opinions to City regarding proposed changes to Chapter 10; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is authorized to establish the Alcoholic Beverage Advisory Group that will provide input regarding the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinances (Chapter 10 of the Kansas City Code).

 

Section 2. That the Director shall appoint 13 members that will be comprised of the Director or their designee, six (6) individuals from the liquor industry and six (6) members that are representative of the neighborhoods.

 

Section 3. That the Director is authorized to appoint members, formulate policies, procedures, and rules regarding this group.
