RESOLUTION NO. 100613

Recognizing the Procurement Services Division on the occasion of winning the 2010 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award.

WHEREAS, the Procurement Services Division of the General Services Department has been named a recipient of the 2010 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, sponsored by the National Purchasing Institute; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award was earned in recognition of the Division’s achievements in such areas as certification, ethics, education, leadership and professional development; and

WHEREAS, the Procurement Services Division comprises twenty-five employees and includes management of the City’s Surplus Property Department, the Mail Room and the Print Center, all under the leadership of Cedric Rowan; and

WHEREAS, the National Purchasing Institute is the Public Sector Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management, and is the foremost national association for procurement officials. The National Purchasing Institute establishes best practices and serves to promote the highest standards and practices in governmental and institutional procurement; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the Procurement Services Division for its continuing commitment to excellence and for being named by the National Purchasing Institute a recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Achievement Award; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Cedric Rowan, manager of the Procurement Services Division, with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City.
