RESOLUTION NO. 140420

 

Honoring Maxine C. McMullen on the occasion of her retirement.

 

           WHEREAS, Maxine McMullen, a lifelong Kansas Citian has been employed by the City of Kansas City since 1974, and again in 1997. She began her career in 1974 as a Clerk in the Mailroom of City Hall, until she promoted out to the Water Department as a Stock Clerk, where she remained until she married and moved to California where she worked for 3 years for the City of Berkeley in the Housing Department; and

 

            WHEREAS, Maxine McMullen, upon her return to Kansas City, Missouri, she began a career with the Kansas City, Missouri School District where she worked for 10 years in the classrooms and as a Building Sub., and in the Summer months she worked as a Youth Advisor for Neighborhood and Community Services Department with the Mayor’s Hot Summer Nights Program; and

 

            WHEREAS, Maxine McMullen, again met the challenge, and she was rehired with the City in 1997 to help with the Youth Division full time. Her duties as a Youth Advisor, was to manage all of the programs that had to do with the youth, and help to establish a Youth Advisory Board that would help to be the sounding board for the youth and their concerns, and also be communication voice to the City of Kansas City.  When the program was moved to the Parks Department, she was moved to the Community Centers Division as a timekeeper and clerk. She remained with Parks Department until she was promoted to the Department of City Planning and Development, as a Customer Service Representative and later she was promoted to an Administrative Assistant within the department; and

 

WHEREAS, Maxine McMullen is also very involved with many charities and committees, like the City’s Charity, Year-Round Charities, and ToastMaster Club and many many more. She is especially proud to be an Ambassador & Speaker for Midwest Transplant Network and the National Kidney Foundation. She also works with several community programs, and is a retiree from the Executive Board for the Kansas City Federation of Teachers & Paraprofessionals, Local 691; NOW THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

            That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Maxine C. McMullen for her commendable service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

           

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Maxine C. McMullen in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her many years of dedicated service and their best wishes for all the years to come.
